From a Different Point of View

Shall we get straight to the point? Ok, here it is. I am old fashioned and I LOVE carpets, especially in the bedroom. They may not be the most trendy flooring option, but they're warm, soft and let's face it, UK is not a warm country so we need all the heat & dryness we can get!

I was recently introduced to this great new website Fun on the Floor, which has lots of inspiring ideas for carpet flooring, covering a wide range of looks in their lookbook, whether it's a boudoir or a minimalist style you love.

An idea or DIY your old chest of draws? How yummy is that shade of yellow!

Are you thinking about taking an office carbinet home? ;)

I love how these images focus on the floor so you can get a feel how different colours would work

there's plenty of inspiration for decoration ideas too, what a great idea to use an antique chest as a coffe table! Now I just need to find that $5 chest from a flee market, any suggestions? ;)

I don't usually post kids related things but how fun is this room!

This is my favorite room, I just love the vintage feel and books on the floor? I do that already :)

So what's your view on carpet? Just in the bedroom, living room or none at all? I'd love to hear what you think :) xx

Lovely ideas, yellow is the best, of course. I'd love to have one like this in my house.

That yellow chest of drawers is from Ikea! I was drooling over it in there the other day, I love it.

I totally have the carpet dilemma. I grew up in a house with lovely pale carpets and they were so soft, and I loooove lying on the ground watching TV or just hanging out with family, but I love the way wooden floors look so much better. It's a tough call, however those photos you posted are really enticing, perhaps carpet will make a comeback??

I've been lusting after that Ikea chest of drawers but it's been hard finding a good place for that bright of a yellow in our home...then again...there's always remodeling.. :-)

I grew up in a home with no carpets, so having carpets was foreign to me. Then when I moved out, the apartment I moved into was pretty much all carpet - but it was a yucky carpet, so it turned me even more against carpet. But my husband, on the other hand, LOVES carpet. He loves the idea of being able to lie on the floor (so we have a strict shoes-off policy in our home). The place that we are renting now has carpet a LOT nicer than my other place, so it's growing on me. I think when we get our own place it will have a mix. A few common living spaces with carpet, a few with hardwood floors.

I LOVE rugs with pretty designs, and I love them on hardwood floors.

I am fond of hard floors, do you fancy shag carpets? I dig the yellow chest as well..

I love carpet! Unfortunately my top floor is already carpeted and top of my wish list is to replace it with beautiful wood flooring...so I can cover it with lots of fab carpets.

p.s. LOVE that yellow chest!

we have carpet (old, disgusting carpet) just in our living room. it's the only main floor room we haven't redone and after doing the rest of the rooms in hardwood, i've decided to keep the living room carpeted. it just seems inviting to my feet after stepping out of bed onto my cold hardwood floor! now, i just need to actually get around to replacing it!

I think that yellow cabinet is from IKEA too. I like carpet in the bedrooms. I have just put in wooden floors in my living room and hallways - the first time I have ever had them - but they are really easy to look after. I always hated hoovering. But carpets in the bedroom - definitely.

I'm all for carpet! I love the lighter colors because it helps reflect the light--also, you can add any color you desire :)

What neat rooms! That kids room is so cool, it looks like a Crayola forest :) I too love the idea of an antique chest, how come they don't make luxuriously detailed items like that anymore?

Also the powder blue bedroom is amazing, that's how I would love to have my guest room!

these all look so yummy.I love hardwoods in the main living areas, but we do have carpet in all the bedrooms. I would love wall to wall sisal though, mainly because it is so hot here.

carpet is one of those things that i love to hate. but now that i have it in my place, i can't help but adore the cozy vibe it creates.

I'm like you - I love carpets in the bathroom! Makes it more luxurious, I think.

I have ALWAYS wanted an antique filing cabinet. Found one the other day, but it was eaten to bits by borer beetles and came apart in my hand. :( The search continues!

We used to use a chest as a coffee table, but when we moved it became too small for the room ... now it's a bedside table. My dream is to acquire another table so that the chest can move to the foot of the bed and become a linen chest!

Wow, long comment, sorry. Love your blog! :)

A xx

Oh how glad am I that you found me? I really like your blog and I think I never have read anyone in UK.

I have a good friend in Luton, and I also have a friend from Luton living in Stockholm now.

About carpets. In Sweden we usually don´t like it. But... I have a dream of one, since I saw a lovely one at the Casa Cor event/fair a few years ago in Stockholm. It was a lovely brown color and I can´t find it anywhere.
I really love your photos of carpets, and I agree to the last photo. We live in an old big house with only floors of wood, but I would love to have a beige one in my bedroom.
Is it true you have it in bathrooms? I stayed in a B&B once and they had a blue one in the bathroom. That is really crazy for us in Sweden I think :)

Keep in touch!
Lina

I am not a carpet person at all, but these pictures have me reconsidering. Of course, I grew up with wood floors, so that's my golden standard. Wood floors and throw rugs.

i love the yellow chest of drawers!

I am conflicted about carpets...they're too hard too clean cos I shed like crazy. So I compromise by having lotsa pretty rugs everywhere, as well as large pillow seats and cushions :D

I love to have hardwood in the living/ family room areas, and then carpet in the bedrooms. I had hardwoods in my old bedroom and it always felt so cold! But they are lovely in other areas of the house.

I love carpet, to me it's more comfortable! I tend to take naps on the floor (no idea why), so wood flooring isn't much fun for me xD

I love these pics! I typically don't like carpet. I'm much more of a hardwood floor, or stained concrete type of person....BUT these photos could change my mind :)

i love carpet. i want it all over my house (well maybe not the kitchen.) hardwood floors are nice, but nothing feels as nice as pulling off your shoes and treading barefoot across a soft carpet. plus tile is SO cold in the morning.
PS-uhh i still have another year of high school and then college before i even think of the real world.

I do books on the floor too :)

I would live happily in any of these rooms! xo

i love all those rooms! I have to have carpet in all the bedrooms. I grew up like that, I'm so used to it now. The negative part of having carpet is that it gets super dirty really quickly!

Those spaces look so calm and relaxing. I'd love for my room to look like one of those!

My whole apartment is carpet (well, besides the kitchen. That would be weird). I think carpet is more common in colder climates, and since I've only ever lived in cold climates, it's kind of all I know. It keeps my feets warm.

I adore interior design. These interiors are lovely indeed. And that play set!

I love the yellow IKEA chest of drawers! As for the carpet question-- I grew up with carpet in our home, then when I was 18 my parents moved to a new place with wood floors almost everywhere (including the bedrooms,) and I quickly fell in love. I do see where carpet is perhaps cozier underfoot (although rugs help tremendously on wood floors,) but, given my choice, I would still prefer wood floors over wall to wall. That said there are some lovely carpets out there should I ever change my mind.
